Counting one, two, three—smooth pebbles connected by a thin thread calm my mind.
Every morning, this is my ritual, giving thanks that I can once again wake to a bright world.
The cool touch of the pebbles awakens my sense of touch, while their dull yet clear sound against each other sharpens my hearing.

By the time I have counted all the pebbles, the unpleasant memories from last night have astonishingly faded away.
This is my ritual, and the source of strength that allows me to live today.
